Wildflower Identification along the River Walk, Arklow, 23rd March 2025

There was a great turnout at the inaugral walk in Arklow, with 13 people attending. We walked along the River Walk alongside the Avoca River. We talked about 14 planned plants and another 3 which we happened to come across. The participants were very interested and a lot of questions were posed about the plants. As I thrive on audience participations, we identified Bittercress, Wild Turnip and Speedwell after receiving questions regarding their identification. We also talked about 3 trees, which we identified by bud, wild garlic, great horsetail, lesser celandine and daisies among many others. Some of the latin names came in useful for some international atendees. We talked about various plant families, their identifying features and some examples of plants in these families. A great outing was had by all.
