About me
Since 2014, I have raised awareness for the importance of wildflowers and biodiversity through guided walks and educational talks.
I have had always had a passion for wildflowers and biodiversity. I grew up on my parents rare and unusual perennial plant nursery and gardens in Ochten, The Netherlands. My earliest memories are of learning about plants, caring for plants and wanting to understand more about all the interesting features in the more uncommon plants found in the nursery. My special treat was to go on wildflower walks on Sundays with my father, an incredible monthly adventure.
In 2001, my family moved to the beautiful Co. Clare. I continued to get my hands dirty in the nursery. When I finished school in 2004, I pursued my lifelong interest academically. After several years of study, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture. I wanted to continue to develop my horticultural education and embarked in the next step on my flowery journey by attaining a Bachelor of Arts in Horticultural Business Management from the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown. The final step in my botanical learning journey was to earn my Bachelor of Science Degree in Botanic Science from University College Dublin. Most recently, I have completed my QQI Level 6 Train a Trainer certificate. These achievements make me uniquely qualified to provide the educational walks and talks that I offer.
I have noticed that there is a lot less interest in the natural world. I wanted to share my passion and knowledge, so in 2014, I founded Wildflower Walks Ireland. Since then, I have lead educational walks and provided informational talks at events throughout Dublin, Carlow and Wicklow, raising awareness of wildflowers and trees in all seasons. I am humbled at the overwhelming praise that I have received and am delighted to have found so many people that share my passion.
I lived in Dublin and recently moved to Arklow with my fiance. When I am not in my garden or out exploring the horticultural delights of beautiful South Wicklow, I enjoy reading, jigsaws and spending time with my amazing friends.
